Dr Cathy Baxter, Director MA (Cantab) MB BChir MRCP FFPM
Cathy graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1993 and is a fully registered
medical practitioner with a license to practice medicine in the UK. She spent eight
years in NHS hospital medicine, including two years of full-time research, before
moving to the pharmaceutical industry in 2000. Cathy initially joined Sanofi-Synthelabo
before moving to GlaxoSmithKline where she undertook various roles including four
years as Head of Medical Affairs.
Cathy became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1996 and a member of
the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine in 2003. Cathy completed her specialty training
in Pharmaceutical Medicine in 2005 and is listed in the Specialist Register of the
GMC. Cathy was elected a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine in 2009
and has held various roles aligned to the Faculty, including Membership of the Faculty’s
Professional Standards Committee as well as Chair of the Faculty’s PMST Courses Quality
Management Group. Cathy is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
In 2008, Cathy set up Baxter Medical – a company providing medical consultancy services
for the development, licensing, in-licensing, promotion and market access of medicines,
advanced therapy medicinal products and medical devices.

associates. This allows Baxter Medical to respond to requests for complex projects
and/or supply complete medical solutions to our clients as needed and to draw on
expertise in a wide range of therapy areas. Our associates are either medical specialists
and/or life-science graduates.
Examples of projects recently undertaken by our associates include:
Multidisciplinary due diligence assessments to support the potential in-licensing
of a portfolio of new chemical entities in phases I and II
Development of new standard operating procedures for a Corporate Clinical Development
group to support international research and development activities
Simultaneous and integrated Medical Affairs support to two global client organisations
who are working collaboratively in a research, development and commercial alliance
